Students taking this programme are required to study basic circuit theory and field theory, basic electronics, computer programming, logic design, machine and power system, microprocessor system, communications, electrical installation, instrumentation system and control theory, electromagnetic theory, power generation, transmission and distribution, power quality and renewable energy sources, as well as subjects on signal processing, multimedia technology and robotics. Building a good foundation in engineering mathematics is also emphasized in the programme to better prepare the students for future professional engineering careers. In addition, students will also be exposed to studies in basic economics, accounting and management, law and contract, moral and professional ethics, technical report writing as well as effective technical communications. In their final year, the students are required to work on graduation projects and are also placed in factories and technical companies for industrial training.
