Dear students opted for MMU Placement,

Please be informed that the committee will not entertain any request of withdrawal from a company once you are hired. Hence, you are prohibited from accepting any job offer from other company, especially without consulting your GL first.

Verbally notifying the GL that you have got another job offer (from a desired Co.) does not imply that your request has been granted.

Until the moment the GL tag you to your desired company which changes your status from "Pending" to "Hired" is then considered complete.

Before this process takes place, you are still subject to be hired by any company at any time.

Therefore, your duty is to ensure the GL complete the task for you at the soonest.

We noticed that many students are yet to click the final 'SUBMIT' button. This button is located at the bottom of the CV page. Once a CV has been successfully submitted, you are able to check the status of submission, i.e. the date will be displayed.

Please do it immediately as the system may close at anytime now.

For those who ignore, the system will set your option to SELF placement and automatically submit the CV on your behalf.

You are advised to read the "CV Submission Guidelines" if you are not certain.

Dear student,

Due to some glitches with the system, there may be some problems with your submitted CV. Please check the following fields in your printed CV:

1) Check that your education section is correct, more importantly your Department/Faculty and Expected Graduation Month

2) Check that your placement selection (Yes or No for MMU Placement) is printed on your CV

3) Check that your location and industry of choice is printed in your CV.

If you notice any errors after you have submitted and printed your CV, please let me know to unsubmit your CV for you for corrections and reprinting.

Information for students who have chosen MMU Placement, but later (after 5 March) received a job offer from a company (previously ownself applied).
1. You may accept the offer IF AND ONLY IF you are still not hired by any company. You can check your employment status from the ITP website.
2. Until the moment you hand over the offer letter to your Group Leader, you are still open/available for employment by any company.
3. As mentioned in the last briefing, this employment is on first come-first served basis.
4. Above all, the ITP Chairperson reserves the rights to turn down your request.

Just to clarify, if you are doing training in Trimester 1 2010/2011 please put Trimester 1 and Academic Year 2010/2011 in your personal particulars fields. This is important for the committee members to know how many students they have to place for this ITP cycle, especially for those who select MMU placement. If you put this wrong, the committee members won't be able to find your record when they go through the list of students.

Apart from submitting your CV online, you are also required to submit the CV hardcopy printout along with your transcript to your respective faculty (as stated in the announcement below). In your CV, the selected option (either SELF or MMU placement) must be clearly stated.
The transcript can be printed out from ICEMS and most importantly it displays your total Credit Hour passed (> 84).

For students who wish to opt for SELF placement but have yet to receive a job offer, you may select SELF placement now (i.e. MMU to find placement for you: "NO") and submit the company offer letter later. Tentatively, the deadline for SELF placement students to submit the company offer letter to their respective Group Leader is 23 April 2010. This deadline may be extended when necessary.

For students wanting to do their training in Trimester 1 of 2010-2011, please do ALL the following between 22 February 2010 to 5pm on 5 March 2010 (this was initially supposed to be between 1 March 2010 to 5 March 2010, but we have brought forward the starting date to give students more time, while maintaining the same deadline):

1. Log in online to update your CV. In particular, please kindly update (i) the total number of credit hours passed, (ii) option for finding own placement or asking MMU to find placement, and (iii) select 3 different location preferences. After updating your CV, please click the “submit” button to officially submit it. For those who exercise this AFTER the given deadline, you will be classified as SELF-finding automatically.

2. Print out the finalised CV and a copy of your latest result transcript. Sign ON EVERY PAGE of both these documents. And then submit these two documents to the faculty office, regardless of self-find or MMU-find. Any late submission will not be entertained.

For students who choose to find their own placements, please kindly note that offer letters are to be submitted to either your Group Leader or Assistant Group Leader. Once you have submitted the offer letter, no change in training company is allowed. In addition to this, if you are not sure whether you want to accept a company's offer, please kindly do not say "yes" to them until you have made up your mind.

The ITP Committee has received some complaints from companies which feel that their contact details should not be posted on our ITP website. Hence, these have been removed. Students are encouraged to search online in the internet or in the yellow pages and write directly to the HR. Please be polite in your letters, and remember that the companies do not owe you an internship. Show some interest in the companies' business activities, and your willingness to contribute to the companies.

There is an internship opportunity at AMD Penang. However, the placement is at least 5 months. Those who are in their final trimester may like to apply for internship at the company. Dear students,
Once you have completed your CV online, you may print it out and start hunting for jobs. Remember to attach the signed support letter together.

From 1 - 5 March 2010, you are required to login to the database again to update your CV by choosing the 'SELF Placement' or 'MMU placement' option.
Only then, you are required to officially SUBMIT (for now the status is still PENDING) your finalized CV. You also need to print out the CV, sign on every page and submit to the faculty together with your latest result transcript.
