Project Title: Design of Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Antenna
Project Leader: Mr. Tiang Jun Jiat
Project Member: Dr. Fabian Kung Wai Lee

Starting Date: Nov/Dec2008

Objectives of the Project:
*To design, simulate and verify the performances of UHF RFID Tag Antenna.
*To fabricate the tag antenna.
*To analyze the simulated and measured antenna.

The RO must also help the project leader in all work associated with the research.

Required Capabilities:
The candidate applying for this position should have good knowledge and demonstrated capabilities in the following:
* Good understanding of electromagnetic theory and the associated mathematics, antenna design, propagation, testing and measurement.
* Good English proficiency.
* The candidate must also be self-motivated, require minimal supervision, be resourceful and willing to learn.

The salary is negotiable. The successful candidate is required to enroll in MMU Master of Engineering (by research).

The duration of the project is 2 years.

Intellectual Property Engineers (8 vacancies) Overview: Responsible for all product engineering issues from the stage of product development through product delivery to customer. These include supporting device level analysis of customer returned devices.

Department Roles and Responsibilities: In Penang Software Systems Engineering, we are primarily responsible for the development of hardware and software products that target the Embedded Systems and Communications market segment. We develop a complete suite of hardware peripherals for the Nios II embedded processor such as DMA Controllers, UARTs, timers and external memory controllers. We are also responsible for the development of high speed communication cores and interfaces for protocols such as PCI and Ethernet.

We develop software drivers and firmware that accompany hardware products to enable communication between the microprocessor core and peripherals in the end-customers embedded system. We also develop software for system-level design tools and reference designs that tie all these products together to enable customized and rapid system development in Altera’s devices.

Requirements: Masters/ PhD in any of the following field: Microelectronics/ Telecommunications/ DSP/ Image Processing/ Embedded Systems/ related Strong coursework in software engineering, logic design & basic electrical engineering Experience creating logic designs in Verilog/ VHDL Fluency in Perl- and Shell-scripting Experience implementing complex software in C/C++ or Java programming languages a plus Experience with PCI or other high-speed I/O interface standards a plus
